I made this ring from a piece of steel that I had slit a hole into, then drifted the hole wider and then ground off the excess material, due to the fact that the forging operation left a sort of ear on the side of the ring. I went on with the rest of the operation with a rotary file and a half round file to get it to the final shape, then I drilled a hole that was 1/8th inch diameter.
The copper bead was made from a piece of 3 gauge copper wire that I put into a drill chuck and basically file machined it down to the right diameter and then cut it off a jewelry saw. The rivet was then heated while in the ring and then hammered down carefully, so the material would upset and form a dome.
This was pretty fun to make and a bit of a throwback to how much I love making jewelry
