Interesting layout, I take it you will build a flying model of it first? I knew a member of the EAA who did that with a replica Neuport. Used a RC model to work a few bugs out of it before doing a 3/5 scale homebuild.

No we will start build it 1 to 1 after the stress calculations are done and we know what sizes stuff needs to be to handle the loads.

Sounds interesting. I was reading your other posts and I like the VW engine idea - I remember when that was fairly common with homebuilts some decades ago.

It was because it was cheap power. If I had funds I would buy a Aero Momentum engine it's 100 horsepower on tap and fuel injected so fuel burn is less. It's also water cooled meaning you have heat in the cockpit

I need to see if I can find a pic of one homebuilt that I see at the airport. High wing pusher monoplane, totally open cockpit. Pilot and passenger sit on seats bolted to what amounts to a beam.

Did a quick look, seems to be a RLU-1 Breezy. Uses Piper Cub wings.

Yes I know the desigh. Two airlines pilots here on the island baught one... it scared the hell out of them... yet I know a couple of hangglider guys that would be doing "This is fucking fantastic!!"

Had the hell scared out of me on a Bensen Gyrocopter. Guy gave me a ride and he was flying low and popping up and down around some trees.

Yeah I bet... the design he copied was never meant to be powered... a number of pilots were killed because of this.

I was always better at building than flying models. Ditto with cleaning aircraft in exchange for some sailplane lessons years ago. I do think my astigmatism had something to do with that. Wasn't found until I was in grad school in the early 90s - prof saw me staggering during a night class - drive up in the dark was making me dizzy. Prof thought I was drunk till he pulled me aside and smelled my breath. told me to go get a good eye exam asap.

I'm dyslexic and it hasn't helped any over the years... along with other issues. I keep moving forward with life.

I would correct you... because it's done with drafting tools and to a scale, it would be called drafting. I do appreciate the kind comment. Now to work getting it into the real realm...
