Also called the "Jesus Lizard" because of its ability to run on water.
They use special skin folds that are on each of their toes to help them stay afloat. They can run very very long distances upon the water before diving in without sinking! Not only that but these are the only known lizards that can start running bipedal without running quadropedal first!
Fun facts for the growing mind.
Anyway this was drawn in pencil... inked... then colored with coloring pencils. I used various web images to reference this lizard and the coloring. I then used this image for a reptile report for class in Herpetoculture. The species is called the Common Basilisk.
~~~ If you were thinking the monster... sorry but nope! : D
Drawing this really reminded me of my deceased green iguana, Fidget. With good reason as both are from the group iguanadae. But enough of all that. : x Please enjoy the lizard.
