The world of alchemy can greatly benefit from the clever application of magical abilities commonly attributed to evil beings or malicious monsters. Take the petrifying gaze of a gorgon, for example. Commonly seen as a fatal method of filling the art gallery of some villain, Petra has painstakingly developed several benign uses for it. As an example, a carefully sculpted stone arm, affixed to a petrified critter by a specially treated mortar mixture, could in fact be restored to flesh and blood with the right potion. The potential to outright replace an amputated limb with a fully functional one drew a willing volunteer to Petra's workshop, and here she gets to work after having finally gotten his blessing to be rendered marble.
