As far as the children were considered, it was quite the bittersweet ending - but for those who lived the tale, it wasn't quite such.
Yet another moving tale you've written, Vixyy. As well as a great addition to the chronicles of Scanectity's Valley, I remember reading of Ben Nose from one of the tales featured in Mckenna's Lullaby; and its great to learn more about him.
As for mistakes, the only one I caught was a single line of dialogue where Anna says 'Jack' instead of 'Jake', its otherwise very solid.
There are more things I could say on this story, but I think I'll sum up how I felt about this one with these words:
"It's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by..."
