I walked down the meadow path, swinging my picnic basket happily. Despite the many hills, my stride remained constant and upbeat. It was amazing weather today, too- cloudless, sunny, and many wildlife were scampering about. The light blue sky seemed to welcome me home. The sea of grass blew lightly with the wind as I continued to my destination. It was, in a sense, the perfect day.
I had discovered this meadow about a year ago. Well, discovered may be the wrong word... other people had already known of its exisitence. But, only me and one other being ever went here. It was a place of sanctuary; of peace, of tranquility. It was shared between me and that one other being- and together, we nutured the place, helping it grow into whatever we desired it to be. That one other being... was a dragoness, of the name, 'Pria'.
Now, now, I know what you are thinking- 'Dragons are fearsome, dangerous, firebreathing beasts! How could you share a meadow with that?' - but you have to understand that not all dragons are like that. This dragoness was not fearsome; if anything, she was cute. Dangerous, not even so: she wouldn't hurt a fly, lest it be to protect someone she cared about. And as for firebreathing, why, the closest she ever got was after she accidently drank an entire bottle of hotsause; boy, was that a day to remember. Anyway, my point is, this dragoness was actually someone whom you could let your gaurd down whenever she was near. Someone you could trust. There isn't that many people around nowadays that you could say the same about.
I was finally nearing the end of my meadow path when I saw it. The hangout tree. At least, that was the name that Pria had dubbed it. After we realized that the tree was our favorite place, we had decided to meet by it once every week. The tree itself was nothing special- just an average tree at the top of a hill, providing a decent span of shade. However, it symbolised the entire meadow for us- simple, carefree, and beautiful. Something that couldn't be tarnished. Looking at the bottom of the tree, I saw the figure of the dragoness. Grinning, I made my way towards the top of the hill.
When I finally arrived at the top, I turned my gaze to Pria. She was laying on the ground, head up and turned away from me, but I could tell she was content and as happy as I was for such a nice day. The dragoness wasn't like many other dragons. Instead of a plethora of scales, Pria had a beautiful coat of fur. It was soft and fuzzy, and came in many different colors- her back was mostly a pale orange, with her underbelly being covered in white fur. Her feet had blackish fur on them, each being covered in four talons. A black line followed Pria's spine, ending at her lithe tail, which had several black-and-yellow feathers sticking out of the end. As amazing as all of that was, her wings stole the cake- she had a wingspan larger than I was tall! Not to mention, both of them displayed more of her magnificent colors. The dragoness also had two small horns protruding from her head. Just add some golden earings to her ears and the look was complete!
After staring at her for a bit, I decided it would be rude to not announce myself, so I walked noisely towards her. The moment I started, her ears perked up and she turned towards me. Though she was modest and a bit shy, Pria could not hold back a delighted smile from cracking her face. "Joshua!" she all but shouted, quickly motioning for me to sit next to her. I laughed, walking over to her and setting my basket down at her feet, as I plopped up against her stomach. This is how we had been sitting for the past couple months- we both enjoyed the intimacy of being close to one another, despite just being friends.
Remembering herself, Pria shortened her grin to a small smile, one that just barely twinged the corners of her maw. "So... how have you been?" Her voice was soft and caring, clearly reflecting her personality. I lay back into her fur, sighing contentedly as my back was enveloped in her delicious warmth, caressed by her body. "I've been feeling pretty good," I replied, "What about you?"
...
We chatted to each other for a long time, even as the sun passed the highest point in the sky. As we talked, we both grew more relaxed, and I started unconsciously petting over Pria's furred body. When I realized what I was doing, I blushed and drew my hand back. Pria, however, just laughed and asked me to continue petting. That was how my next few hours was spent- talking with Pria and petting her, all while snuggling up to her soft, lovable fluff.
Pria and I were talking about the meadow when I suddenly felt a "RUMBLE". I froze, and then it came again- "GRUMBLE". Pria's face, normally an orangy color, turned bright red as I stared at the source- her fuzzy belly. It groaned around me one last time, and I felt the vibrations roll through me. Embarrassed as all hell, Pria started frantically, "Oh my gosh, I am so sorry, I didn't mean for that to-" but I cut her off. I said, smirking triumphantly, "I figured you would get hungry." Pria looked at me confusedly. "...What do you mean, Josh?"
My smirk grew wider as I leaned over to the picnic basket and displayed its goodies- it was full of rowan berries, Pria's favorite treat. "They're all for you."
The dragoness's eyes widened at the sight of an entire picnic basket full of her favorite food. For a moment, she stared disbelieving at me. Then she gave me the biggest smile I had ever seen from her, one that radiated happiness and glee. "I LOVE YOU!" She squealed, curling her wings around me and giving me a full bodied fluff hug of passion. When I finally (reluctantly) extracted myself from her, she nuzzled my face and gave me a lick on my cheek. Damn, If I had known she loved rowan berries this much, I would have gotten them for her ages ago. When Pria finally calmed down, she couldn't keep the grin off of her muzzle.
"Would you... feed them to me? Now?" She asked hopefully.
"Of course!" I responded. I knew she could eat them herself, so... there must be reason she wanted me to feed them to her. Maybe... just maybe... our relationship was finally growing past the 'friends' stage. If that was the case, I wholeheartedly welcomed the change. I had been growing feelings for her for a while now, and I could never be more ready to express myself.
Pria opened her maw, displaying her insides as she waited for me to feed her the berries. I grasped a handful of them, tossing them into the throbbing cavern. Some fell directly into her throat; others spilled down her tongue and around her sharp teeth. The dragoness let out a contented sound: "Mmmmmmmmmm... so goooood..." Her eyes rolled slightly upwards. She swallowed, and I imagined that the berries were being smothered and crushed inside her throat. I kept feeding her handfulls, and eventually, her mouth was stained red with the juice of her favorite food. For the next couple minutes, I continued to feed her while she devoured the rowan berries in bliss. Finally, I threw in the last handfull, noting with satisfaction that her stomach no longer grumbled.
We both lay on the ground for a few minutes, basking in each other's satisfaction. "Joshua," Pria mumbled, clearly sleepy after such a big meal, "Thank you so much... for the berries... and for always being there for me..." The dragoness didn't give me a chance to respond, setting her head down on the ground and curling around me. I smiled and responded anyway, "Your welcome. And if you're EXTRA good... I may just bring more berries next time."
She didn't say anything to that, and I realized she had fallen asleep. 'Wow, she must have been really tired today' I thought. I chuckled softly, laying inside the crevice of her body, and decided I would take a nap of my own. As I lay next to her slumbering form, I grew less and less aware of my surroundings; only aware of the dragoness around me. Before I was completely unconscious, I made a mental note to bring more rowan berries to our next meet.
I loved this dragoness. And I hoped that she loved me just the same.
