Aye, this was done in CS4. The new IK chains are pretty nice, though they seem to interfere with the bounding boxes if mishandled. Still a lot of practice to do :)

yeah I've been looking at some tutorials and the style looked as if you were able to apply some of the fancy stuff it has to offer. is an "IK chain" sorta like the bone tool?

one thought i had.. could you put in a stop or pause button to animations? several reasons... first, with lrger animations it can slow things down and that can make doing anythign awkward - like typing, clicking stuff etc... secondly, where there's sound - especially short loopers like your clown one - it can get irritating and its either put up untill youve got your comment typed or put up untill you open volume control and hit mute. thirdly, it can just be handy for longer ones for if you get messages while watching it, or those odd times web pages decide to open over the one your using.

I daresay these issues are lessened with non-rubbish pcs, but still... pause buttons are handy if you can put them in easily. if it'd be awkward to put in though, fair enough.
