As a hopefully obvious preface, this is a COVER, not an ORIGINAL. This is purely my recreation of the work of John Grant

Ask anyone I talk to, I've been addicted to this song for a few months. So much so that a friend said I could probably recreate the whole thing from memory.
So how could I not? And I'm SO HAPPY with the result, it makes me sad that it's not an original of my own D¦
John Grant is an absolutely fantastic artist, and I couldn't recommend his work more. If you didn't know him already, I urge you to discover him!
But holy moly I never do covers. And that's something I obviously have to remedy. I learned so much more from doing this than I could have dreamed!
If I get really into it I might even do requests. But that's pure speculation, and could only come after my other obligations.
I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did making it!

I believe the lyrics come from the menu of an old malt shop that John Grant used to go to a lot when he was young. I adore the lyrics because, although they're seemingly meaningless, the way they're used just charges them with so much emotion. Like, you can feel the nostalgia, the longing. And thank you very much~ I think JG has a very similar vocal register to mine, although he's definitely a more practiced vocalist compared to me. ;P
This was among of the very greatest things I've heard today - and I've listened to a Best-of RUSH album - so that counts for something. :3
All of the components blend really so well together, to the extent of the arcs of suspense! So there is nothing I would change with that cover - it's perfect to me!

Yea, that's the beauty of it. Covering songs can act as the perfect playground to work with already profound arrangements and execute and change them around in a way that extends your musical universe and vocabulary. And also to practice instruments and vocals within these often complex arrangements.
Speaking of vocals; you did an excellent and delightful job on them. It was a great joy to hear this passion in your voice that you've clearly put in!
