In  tegerio's Realm of Faerie, the dominant religion is a monotheistic one. Elves of all species worship the holy skunk-goddess Fuma, who created the Shining Land from Her musk. In addition to being the creator, Fuma is also associated with venery (i.e., any and all sexual activity, you betcha!) and fertility. She loves kids, and not as snacks, either.

Now, note I said "Elves of all species." That implies other gods - goat gods, rabbit gods, fox gods, etc. The first Emperor of Faerie, Irenaeus Lacktail, was a warrior prophet of Fuma, spreading Her worship throughout the realm at the point of his sword. So Mephitist orthodoxy holds that all the other gods have been destroyed.

Well . . .

In the Southlands and in other parts of Faerie, tradition holds that the other gods weren't destroyed (let's face it, they wouldn't be gods if they were easy to kill, right?) but merely subordinated to Fuma. Reduced to Holy Consorts, these lesser gods and goddesses are venerated more like saints than anything else. Some are prayed to in order to intercede with Fuma on the worshiper's behalf.

Which leads me to Tilki. Tilki's a tod-fox, and is a clever prankster. "Irrepressible" may as well be in his job description, and sometimes his antics cause trouble, requiring Fuma to take him in paw.

Or sit on him, as shown here. Since he's a god, where's his third eye?

It may be just me, but I think he enjoys it, and Fuma just has this motherly, tolerant smile on Her face.
