Friends showed me this post of Adorabat from Mao Mao, where the original poster suggested drawing our fursonas like this, so I did!:

Just Oxnard with big goofy eyes - I've drawn a bunch of my pals this way too, I'll maybe share those later!

'Big goofy eyes'? Is it kind of like 'Anime eyes'? Or is it more of like 'Derpy' looking? Perhaps 'Googly eyes'?
Eyes are a very interesting element in character depiction. They are referred to as 'The window into the soul' and have been done in many different ways in which allow for the illustration of the character, degree emotion plays part in the presentation, and to provide ways in which to show surprise, fear, and other things that simply must be done through the eyes and not through verbiage nor pose.
As you know, The Haposaurs have large eyes because the eyes aid in giving a viewer the opportunity to feel the sense of color and joy they get into. The parent series, "Silmaria", would have eyes that would occasionally 'glow', or 'shimmer' as a result of how humanity has tampered with magic and human development.
Eyes are not the big emphasis for 'Project: Ezil' as, well, the visually-impaired fox girl is more about use of other senses for illustration of story than the eyes.

In the anime, 'Cowboy Bebop, Spike Spiegal has lost an eye and was given a replacement. It's not a robotic eye, as far as I could tell, as much as it was a genuine transplant to make up for what he had lost. However, to the point, he mentions to someone about how one eye sees the present while the other sees the past. I believe the replacement eye is the past one. You can also see each eye is slightly different in color to help add on this concept.
There's also the way in which Shang Tsung in the live-action 'Mortal Kombat' movie takes a soul from a fallen fighter and it enters into him through his eye. A true case of 'window to the soul'.

Whoa. That’s quite the in-depth analysis you have here for the effects of eyes on a character. Very interesting. Having said that, I thought of asking a question in response. Since there are so many kinds of impacts eyes alone can have on the depiction of a fictional character, what kind of impact could the eyes have for a real person? What would your thoughts on this be?
P.S: So you’ve seen the old “Mortal Kombat” movie too. What did you think of it?

The 90s 'Mortal Kombat' movie was, in my opinion, one of the best video game based movies ever made. The only other one to really rival it would be the 'Resident Evil' films in which, quite honestly, had a more realistic outcome for if the T-Virus got out. The 'cloning' was a bit over-the-top but, well, that's what you get in a film that took a different direction than Capcom did. :)
*Sigh* I wish I could tell what one's eyes in real life could express. (I was born with Glaucoma and, at best, had vision just below being able to get a Driver's License)
I'm 100% blind now. However I did like watching video games, movies, shows, and animations utilize the eyes as a method of showing emotion. I've also heard many notable tales on how the eyes react to certain situations in real life.
For example, which I fear will lead to early visual disability in the current generation, staring at a computer screen inclines you to blink less. This dries out your eyes while exposing it to 'blue light' that can expedite vision loss. (When I could still 'see', I used a collection of magnification tools to perform my duties as a software tester / document writer. I could easily tell a difference in how I felt between long spreads doing my job and times I was away from the computer.)
There's also the 'rapid movement' of eyes that I, myself, feel even without working eyes, and one missing eye, which are a part of anxiety.
Lastly, not facing someone / making eye contact is a sign of deception and/or low self-esteem. (During my training to prepare for when I'd go 100% blind there was a strong emphasis on making an effort to maintain eye contact through using the voice as a way to approximate where the eyes were)
What's really interesting, and this is an aside, is how the eye that needed removed last year has been replaced with a 'plate'. They no longer do those glass eyes. They put this thing into your eye socket to help keep the eye spot itself from swelling shut. Then, once all is good, you meet with a medical artist who, in one day, creates a plastic mold that, once placed in the eye, looks, as has been described to me, very real. I've even found, by asking people, I can move it quite naturally. Though, if it falls out, I have to remember to not be in public places as I shove it back in. <LoL!>

Hmm. I see. Quite a lot to take in. Well, for the piece about visual disability, about how simply staring at a computer can hurt your eyes, that’s actually something that happened to me. I had to start wearing glasses shortly before I finished high school. You know, I actually read your profile here, about how you became blind and how you’re living with it, while at the same time, you’re working to help other people with similar disabilities, to help others learn about these issues. That was pretty powerful, and heartwarming, to learn about how you’re helping people with these issues. It’s very important and sweet.
P.S: Hmm. So “Mortal Kombat” was really something for you, wasn’t it? For me, it was a pretty decent movie; I enjoyed it, but it didn’t really stick with me. That’s just my opinion, though.

The Mortal Kombat movie in the 90s stuck with me as, at the time, I had found myself getting really good at the arcade 'Mortal Kombat 2'. I was basically unbeatable as Baraka and played it a lot with friends when it became available on the SNES.
Given how I was epic good at MK 2, I feel the movie was able to gain a lot of my favor as, well, I was left disappointed by the "Street Fighter" live action film.
I have heard we are getting a new Mortal Kombat movie in 2021. The questions is whether-or-not they'll make it good, or just another money grab with bad writing, plot, and poor character casting / acting.

I need to update my profile one of these days. I'm quite proud of all I've done but would like to make it 'more fun'.
Personally, I feel my best when helping others. especially those here as, through my time, I've found a lot of folks on here are just like I was when I first started. This being alone, different, and/or worried nobody could ever see good in what made me who I was.
It was the very first day that I made a friend and, after nearly 12 years, I've been trolled, maybe, once.
This is a very respectful place and great for allowing yourself to be 'you' through your character. Through Yosh I have grown in real life and now do not feel shame nor need for outside validation. However none of this would be possible without those who welcomed me in. I strive to pay this favor forward s much as possible. :)

Haha, if you remember the Donald Duck "Dolan Gooby" meme, the eyes are kinda like that! Just big and round, with simple big black pupils - though they have a bit of a shine here. The perspective is also looking from below a character, so most the face is just round and empty, with the big eyes and a tiny little mouth between the peepers! Googly eyes are close, and it looks vaguely threatening despite being cute and simple, hehe.
It's neat what shows and cartoons can do with eyes, they express a lot! But Boe's story should show us how much can be done without them, I think. :3

Only vaguely threatening? I dunno if this will notify Yosh-e-o as well, but the very slight smile to Oxnard's mouth is reminiscent of the "Does this look like the face of mercy?" face from Miu's comic "I </3 U 2" on the plush caterpillar pillow, but with much bigger eyes, if that was something you knew about. Oxnard is frighteningly adorable in this picture, and the slight smile gives him an air of evil. I love it.
