It made me remember Muscle March for some reason.

Wish i had an answer to this fascination they have with them to. Like i told tsampiko's the best i can guess is that the Yakuza back in the 60's-early 90's tried to really stand out. Both there clothing and there grooming was suppose to draw attention to them. i guess the idea was "Im a bad ass criminal and i want everyone to know. Even the police"

You know i have no idea. Ive tried to look it up and all i can find is that it was a gangster and Yakuza thing. Back then they tried to stand out as much as possible with flashy clothing and outrageous hair apparently.
best i can surmise is it means "Hey im a criminal element and im so bad ass i want everyone to know it. look at my outrageous hair."
