They sure do look menacing, that's for sure. I know they're not displaying any threats of aggression, but still.
I don't know the technical terms for it, but I really like how the lights are portrayed - they're a good contrast for the darker sides of the piece, and they make me focus on the characters.
I don't... er, have much else to say. Maybe I should learn more about drawing...?

Some time ago i just started a mostly black and white painting to practice contrast so i would be able to put focus where i want, because it's easier to do with limited colours. So i'm glad that i achived this! While painting i ended up with a little story about this animals: there are hiking and occasionally exploring ruins with their human and that cat is short tempered, often unpleased, the dog is the calm one and enjoing it's time. Doubt If i show their character tho xd

Now that you mention it, I can see the dobie being a little more friendly :o I'm biased against small cats, so I can't comment on them impartially
