To call Quillor Orias a thief is to say that a hurricane is a storm. While the term is essentially true, it totally understates Quillor's skills and abilities at purloining, er, obtaining things. The more impossible it is to obtain something, the better Quillor likes it, though it places his own well-being in jeopardy. The jeopardy doesn't necessarily come from those he's taking from though. Despite their level of technology (fairly advanced with computers and other high-tech devices), Quillor's society is tribal/clannish and failure to finish a job one's taken on can result in the loss of one's wings or eyes. When Quillor's offered the chance to use his skills in places and situations he's never dreamed of, he leaps at the chance.
Quillor is brash, daring and seemingly a bit reckless especially since the price for failure at the school won't cost him any of his body parts. While that rubs a number of people the wrong way, he's a perfect fit with Reynard's personality and the two get along like brothers, even when Quillor's charm leads to one of his biggest thefts of all, Kym's heart away from Reynard.

And you're going to judge him based on a silly little synopsis with something that I've written bascially to be tongue in cheek with his specialty? There's a lot more to the story than I'll probably even bother to share and looking less likely that I will the more of these sketches I try posting.
Well, to you it's tongue-in-cheek, but we can't tell very easly.
Unfortunatly, all I got out of it is: he's an expert theif (nothing wrong about that)
He's really good at what he does.
He stole his best friend's love...
That's what I got out of it.
Written as it IS, that's how I see it and that is something I really don't like, because it's happened to me.
But, granted, as you said, there is a story to it and it may not be anything like that. It may be that his friend and the gal didn't get along and so she decided to give his buddy a try, but again, that's not what I read.
I saw stole and, well, it gave me vicious flashbacks...
Sorry I ticked you off.
