Well, I didnt really like the white looked on a trail rig (and it was slowly turning pink from all the red mud, so I went with a new color. :3 Also gone are the full steel doors (need new uppers to match the rest of the top, meh), replaced by a set of good ol fashioned halfs. :3
Painting left to be done? I need to fill in the Jeep logos (just doesn't look right blanked out), replace the RUBICON across the hood, (any ideas for what should go there now?) and replace the fox decal I had on it. Sent a cpl of commission requests out, but haven't gotten any replies :-/ Ah well, It is turning out very well imho, and it is a blast to play around in! My winch solinoid is busted atm so I gotta be a little more careful playing in the gooey stuff, hehe. :3

The BFG KM/2's are awesome tires! Those are the 35x12.5R15's (yeah, I went down to a 15" rim, hehe), but after running everything from BFG No Terrains, the classic MTR's, Surplus Hummer Tires, and Swamper TSL's, the KM/2's run extremely quiet for a MTR (quieter then the All Terains even), and offer excellent off road traction. not quite as good as a TSL, but still very good. :3
Link incoming, the top I have is the Rampage Half Top. My only complaints with the system is that it is incompatible with the 03-06 speaker pods (works fine when the pods are removed), and the buttons where the duster snaps into the windjammer suck. I am having a friend sew in a few of the twisty canvas snap thingies to shore it up better. Otherwise, I love it!
Nice lookin TJ! I'm curious, what kinda paint did you use? I wanna give my XJ a coat of olive drab, but seems like every company's version of the color varies a bit in tone and shade. I've seen some paint jobs (like yours) that look really good, and some that look fucking terrible.
I actually went a bit cheap, which kind of made things tricky when it came to the hood. After a bit of searching for a good flat (why is everything gloss or semi-gloss?) OD green, I settled on the Krylon Camo Paint in the rattle can. It is a bit sensitive to any surface coat you leave, but has the advantage of being available just about everywhere and easy to touch up. The hood was a bit tricky due to trying to keep an even pattern with a rattle can, but it worked out in the end. Prep is the key! take your time and give everything a good sanding (doesn't need to be bare metal) and cleaning. No primer is needed, but it might help. I didn't use any.

i don't think i've seen krylon at the few stores i usually go to, will have to shop around to find it. Been thinking about ordering a gallon from a site called armyjeepparts.net that has paint nearly identical to what they used on WWII jeeps, but it just sounds too expensive with the hazmat fees n stuff. that and it's semi gloss Like your hood, i keep hearing on forums is that the larger body panels are the hardest to rattle can due to difficulty keeping an even coat, but hey, it's a $100 paint job, what ya expect, right?
