Lost World Species Profile: Acrocanthosaurus Atokensis
Binomial Name: Acrocanthosaurus Atokensis (Acro-canthro-saur-us. At-oh-ken-sis)
Acrocanthosaurus is a large carnivorous theropod native to the most of the planets various warmer conifer forests, redwoods, semi-arid deserts, and savannahs of The Lost World. Usually preferring to hunt larger animals rather than smaller quarry, It can take down creatures twice it's size even alone. Biting into the thinner hide of the targets thighs and heels resulting in death by blood loss, and chomping down on smaller prey, thrashing it around followed by it repeatedly throwing it into the ground before either swallowing the prey item whole or ripping off pieces if it's too large to do so. Being one of the most feared theropods on the entire planet alongside Tyrannosaurus, Allosaurus, Giganotosaurus, and Charcharodontosaurus. Being over twelve feet tall, thirty eight feet long, and weighing around six and half tons. While not larger than either three of them other than allosaurus. It's quite faster, clocking in at speeds of over 30mph if allowed to be out in the open. It's highly territorial and usually prefers to live a solitary life, mating only once a year. Tamed Acros are highly prized among armies as well as individuals of higher social hierarchies like kings, princesses, and princes as either combative mounts in sieges, as it's said they're skin is so thick and tough enough that arrows and even projectiles from firearms barely penetrate it's thick tough hide especially on the sides of it's body, burying themselves only an inch into its hide. Or, as a show of authority. Acrocanthosaurus implements a rather peculiar method of defending itself form attacks of other large carnivores and offending natives by approaching the offender(s) with it's side facing toward it's opponent, making itself less likely to be severely injured.
