Long ago in a remote region of China, young Shí Xiū was once the partner of Fù Xìn, but as they grew apart during their quest for strength and knowledge, Shí was starved with desire, and felt betrayed by Fù's indifference. Leaving his temple of study, he eventually encountered the serpent sorceress Manasa. In exchange for his allegiance in hunting down her enemies, she gifted the lion with powers he could use to to fulfil his hedonistic drive and create a cult of obedient followers with the same mindset.
