So he is supposed to be like, uh, jumper? Zip around on the battlefield, really mobile one. I know as a class it's kinda unusual, I just wanted to do someone really bottom heavy in silhouette

You would need to work on "typical postures". Think of this as a game.
How do you recognize characters? by posture and silhouette. If the silhouettes are very varied (like with Overwatch) you can tell at a glance. But when silhouettes are very similar you would have to recognize the characters by their typical posture.
Think of Team Fortress... how do people hold their weapons? Each of them holds it in a different fashion and they also walk and stand in a different way. Silhouette is not just how people look, but also their attitude in their posing.
These are really nice characters, but i only now realized you were working on silhouette. And... honestly? You can work on a silhouette by forcing a posture, true... but 4 out of 8 characters have a very similar posture and 2 of the remaining 4 have a different (but still very similar) posture.
The way i see it you probably did the first three characters before receiving this very same feedback from your teacher, or maybe you wanted to shake things up.
Still. Very nice work. 👍

Hi! This is actually valid, thank you! I did think of those games when i was drawing them. It is an important point. But, my teacher actually wanted them to be basically in the same position, that's why all of them looking in the same direction, the turn is also similar. I did wanted to shake things up and I usually shape the task a bit in my favour with this teacher, but it's hard, so they are how they are :')
He wanted them to look different in basic shapes more... we could have worked on the T poses alone, for 3d model to be done, so the animators could bring back the character in the game.
This task kinda doesn't make sense here, i think it should have been one or the other.
Thank you c:

Ah... so it was *THAT* kind of excercise... and yes... it's a bit messy, but i understand, he wanted you to exaggerate and differentiate body shapes alone. Hmmm... yes... i see why that would be useful.
But yes, T-Poses would not work, because at that point you would only be thinking of the body/clothing shape and you might not have thought of how it "interacts with itself".
That said... yeah... it's not just body shapes that defines a character, it's posture too.
If all characters have the same posture and same "personality" they will blend together unless you really exaggerate those shapes into cartoony stuff. Which... i see you tried, but... yeah... still. Good attempt. And i now understand better your frustration.
