Well, as I was eating lunch yesterday or perhaps on Friday morning, I had mentioned the story that Pop told me about his naval buddies from Glynn Co using bowling balls dropped from blimps into the St. Simons Island Sound to chase off Japanese subs. Back when I was a kid, I thought it was the coolest story and that Pop was such a hero! I still do ... but as I got older, I had to admit that I was skeptical. Japan was in the Pacific and we are on the Atlantic coast ... so, how? Well, it was a year or two before he passed that Pop told this story again to the kids and their kids with me sitting there and listening in. As I remember it, Pop never really explained much, just let the picture of the blimps stationed at Glynn Co docked in the hangars, waiting too be launched or just having arrived. None of the kids asked, either older kids or the younger kids. I tried talking to Jonathan about this story, but I always forget. Perhaps, I just have decided to take it on faith ...
Anyways, Tragic Fame thought this was such an interesting story and thought to mention an idea of having Shan and Taffy defending Crossroads from the Whimsical Windymere, Taffy's magical pirate ship, with the use of bowling balls ... honoring Pop and his defense of Brunswick and St. Simons Island from Monsters and Aliens and I don't know what all!
I hope you enjoy!

Back in the late 1990s, as you probably know, a lot of the anime artists and writers went off into the video game market where there was more money to be made. Also with the advent of using more and more computers to make the special effects better and cheeper, I believe that anime suffered for it. Honestly, much of what's considered new and better than the older stuff is just a cheeper knockoff of the classics. Oh, there are some gems that stand out, but a bulk of it is ... well, pandering to the fans. Or trying to.
One of the reason I stopped buying a lot of anime is that it's turned dark, angsty, often had poor characters (both in development and design), and weak story writing. I remember when series like Bubblegum Crisis, Ranma 1/2, Dominion Tank Police, and Gatchaman caught my attention and made me excited to watch the shows. Now ... well ... Dragonball Z and even One Piece has jumped the shark. :)

Well, years ago, I showed my Big Sister's kids both of those movies, Ranma 1/2, and a few others. My nephew mentioned today on a phone call that he agrees with what I said. "I wish there was more out there that was fun," he comments and he even likes the darker, angsty stuff. :)
