This is my friend's father, Mr. Alim Saleem Rajput. He hails from the Pashtun region of Pakistan. Mr Rajput came to America with $20 and some big dreams 1973. He has been a taxi driver for years, working 7 day weeks to put both his sons through college. He put himself through night school to become an American citizen, got his high school diploma and, just last year, graduated from college with a degree in economics. He is kind, generous and a wonderful role model.
Alim (his name means wise one) offered to drive his son and I all over hell and gone so we could take pictures of my wacky fursuit antics. He reserved comment on my suit, just shaking his head and smiling to himself. He has bailed us out of trouble many times when we were kids and I'm sure he thought to himself "Oh no, here we go again..."
Thank you Mr. Rajput for the chauffeur service and the years of freindship.

*waggwaggwagg* When I was growing up, I had friends with super parents like that whom helped raise the whole community as well as myself. It always felt way worse when you did something wrong and they said they where disappointed in you vs your own parents saying it to you. Good people are hard to come by and it looks like you found one. *hugs*

I know what you mean. One time Greg and I got caught "borrowing" beer from a local
merchant. Mr. Rajput made us write letters of apology, volunteer time on the weekends
cleaning up the store room, and, worst of all, he told us how disappointed he was in us. That just about killed me. It's a lesson I'll never forget. My own parent's wrath was bad enough, but to think I had made this man think less of me was too much...
We laugh about it now. Thank God...

I LOVE JB! I live/was born in his hometown ^ ^ My favorite song by him is Bama Breeze, a newer song (2006 Take the Weather With You album) about something everyone living where I live has experienced: the destruction of nostalgic, beloved places by hurricanes (Katrina and otherwise). It's a happy song, though, and I can listen to it on repeat without getting tired of it.
