I had received a quite awesome piece of art from
passerine_dragon to inspire me finally coming up with something set in the Tani homeworld.
A chubby Akri, who didn't quite intend to pick up so much pudge, but just couldn't resist the onslaught of all those delicious offerings the village kept providing him with for his protection. Embarrassing, eh? :)
The story is set a couple decades after the events of New World 2648, normally I would suggest reading the novel first, but given that it is Hungarian, and I am still unsure just how long that monumental effort of translating it would take...
So at least a hopefully fun little adventure around a (not quite intentional) weight gain theme, which besides the entertainment I hope gives some interesting insight in how that strange, distant world feels like after the collapse of the former human rule.

This was interesting and well written, and the idea of a tribute demanding "dragon" inadvertently becoming morbidly obese from the offering it receives seemed both original and even plausible. Since the core story is only available in Hungarian, I think it would have been useful to include at the beginning of this one a bit of an introduction, preferably with illustrations of the various races and previous events.
It seemed odd to me that this Akri Wyvern did not seem as intelligent as the ones from the city that enslaved and consumed humans, as the ability to succesfully enslave another race seems beyond the sophistication of this one, who cannot even control his appetite, though I can imagine these creatures can learn fast when actually in the midst of more intelligent creatures, than this one that seems to have had little or no contact with humans. One wonders how menacing these creatures really could be based only on this one, and hard to imagine them conquering advanced humans, if that had been the case. I'm sure that if I could have read the original story, the events in this one would seem more coherent. I would certainly read it should it ever be translated. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks :) The Akris are very peculiar creatures with quite variable intelligence, this setting is as if you visited rural areas of third-world countries among them. They of course fly, so "globalisation" among them is pretty prevalent (they travel with ease), but their social structure is such that it relies on a significant feral population, contributing to the established balance of their civilization (the balance of the three Tani races, and also the balance of the Akris themselves).
They have multiple brains, and to become that intelligent like those living in the city, demands them to mature past their initial internal struggles to get that complex system serving its purpose well. That takes long, but they are also immortal, which, well, means that those who matured well are capable to live "forever", while the ferals may be "killed" over and over again, essentially a "hard reset" for a subsequent try. Like what is foreshadowed to potentially happen to this one in the story eventually. They have a very different population dynamics than anything among us.
And many more other elements, a lot of them at least would be hinted in New World 2648, this would normally rather be a fun short story around this kink for someone who had read that pretty substantial novel. If that was possible, but unfortunately isn't due to it being Hungarian.
