With all the poor weather battering the UK as of late, the pilots flying in British skies are no doubt getting their experience in IFR and landing in adverse weather conditions! I learned the value of saying “nuh-uh” to poor weather when I was a student, and am forever grateful for doing so.
For two of the largest budget airlines in the UK, I tend to have a general rule when it comes to aviation stock. The Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair is the Boeing airline, almost completely stocked up with 737s, while easyJet is the Airbus airline, filling its ranks with A319s and A320s, both classic and neo. I have no particular preference for either plane, though I can tell you that compared to Ryanair’s economy (read scum) class, easyJet treats passengers to a lap of luxury all the way from Luton to Magaluf. My experience with them has been adequate; I’ve always gotten to my destination in reasonable time and, y’know, alive, but it’s what you would expect from a budget airline. Most of their bases are here in the UK, and outside of usual year-round routes they operated seasonal trips to popular holiday destinations, in France, Bulgaria, Spain, Croatia, Turkey, and Greece. In fact, of the 14 routes between the UK and Greece, only 2 of those are year-round.
Hope you enjoy!
