This is my droid from the Droid Depot in Galaxy’s Edge, BB-KV. :) BB-KV is a BB-Unit and was built on the planet Batuu. He was then shipped to Earth, where he now lives with his new master. He finds Earth to be much nicer than Batuu, though finds our planet’s technology to be somewhat behind the rest of the galaxy. He was quite surprised to find out that we have yet to master hyperspace travel. Still, he’s happy with his new home, and is getting along well with his master, who sees him less as a droid and more as a friend.
Before anyone asks, I didn’t build this droid myself. I chose the parts, then someone on eBay went to Galaxy’s Edge and built him for me according to my specifications. I’ve always loved the color combination of red and black, so I knew I wanted my droid to be red and black. However, they didn’t have a red and black dome, so I did some custom paintwork on my droid. :) His dome was originally red and silver, but I painted a lot of the silver parts black. I also panel lined him to bring out the surface details on him.
The droids from the Droid Depot are remote controlled, and require six AA batteries for the droid and two AAA batteries for the controller (the batteries for the droid and controller are included). They feature lights, sounds, and will even interact and respond to their surroundings in Galaxy’s Edge. You can even change their “voice” and what sounds they make my installing a personality chip into them (sold separately). By default, the R-Series droids sound like R2-D2, and the BB-Units sound like BB-8. I didn’t buy a personality chip for mine since I think the BB-8 sounds suit him well. :) Operating him definitely takes practice, but he’s pretty fun to play around, not to mention cute. ^u^ If you find yourself visiting Galaxy’s Edge, I highly recommend stopping by the Droid Depot and building a droid. :) It’s a bit pricey, costing $100 whether you choose to build a R-Series droid or a BB-Unit, but they really are a lot of fun, and you’ll get a lot of enjoyment out of them. :)

Thank you! ^u^ The model builder in me saw unfilled panel lines and had to correct it XD. Though now I’m tempted to take a picture of him with the Sphero one. :D
You bet there is! :) An ever expanding galaxy’s worth of merchandise just waiting for fans and collectors of all ages to enjoy. :)

Yeah, I had been planning a trip this month, but I had to keep rescheduling it and ended up just canceling my trip. Luckily, there are people on eBay that you can pay to go there and build your droid for you. :) If you find the right person, it’ll actually cost you less than the combined cost of admission to the park and your droid. I ended up saving a good $30 that way. :) The people that do it are probably not going to be able to do it anymore until the Disney parks open again, but I recommend looking into it.
