The ability to turn into an elephant would be both unusual and awesome. No one would expect it. I mean, with a wolf it would practically be completely normal (and boring) to turn into one in reality... since we've been so desensitized to the concept. But with an elephant!? Watch out!

I agree. Werewolves have become mainstream (especially with recent films targeting the 14-year-old girl demographic). Personally, I've never been a huge fan of werewolves; there's just nothing about them that interests me. I wouldn't want to hurt anybody or have to kill to survive. If I had the chance, I would much rather be a big, docile, pachyderm. Though werewolves seem to be the most popular here, there is some elephant folklore in Eastern cultures. There's tales in Africa that warn children not to stand their feet in baskets for fear of becoming an elephant. There's also the story of the mere-wife:

I would actually like to to know where that information came from, the children turning into elephants? That sounds very interesting, and very similar to the legend of the Dragon Pearl.
