The year was 1988, a good friend and member of a rock band I was in asked me to draw a dragon for him to use on a guitar case. It took a year and was hard to finish because I never knew when to stop adding details. I had to make many xerox copies in order to prevent mistakes and to resize him properly when done. All part of the artistic process I suppose and the reason I named him Zeroxx.
Inspiration was the slender dragon of Chinese mythology but it ended up chubbing out looking more like the 7th Voyage of Sinbad dragon since I had a large 24" Harryhausen figure staring at me and mocking me. So he became a Southern Dragon with the traits of both.
So I had this made into a die-cut sticker and my friend Jim (the stylized "chinese" letters spell out his name) loved it by the way and has the guitar case to this day. He has no idea about the process unless he reads this.
Ink, Xerox carbon and color marker on heavy paper, paint splatters of color were acrylic paint.
