Decided to, in between my few commissions, try some shading stuff on a portrait of Misaki Himura, and her patron kitsune, Aya. They were an old PC of mine in a DnD 5e game, utilizing a painted warlock subclass- Misaki's magic came from painting things! And Aya was her patron; a Kitsune that ran a small afterlife realm known as the Painted Havens, where wandering spirits could rest and paint themselves their own paradise. But, the Havens were starting to fall apart; the paint aging. So despite Aya being young and scared of the Material Plane, she decided to get the help of a talented, but frail, artist- Misaki. Misaki's will to protect those she cared about and do right for others was so great, it didn't matter if she ended up injured in the process, or pushed her limits... and as a sickly child, that was always an issue. But she became stronger due to Aya's magic, and a painted mask bound the two together, becoming Misaki's new face. They operated via a symbiotic relationship; as they could only be strong if they were together.
Too bad I only ever got to play her for a few sessions... Misaki and Aya (They operated as one character) Were my favorite PC I've ever played, really.

They were part of a secondary campaign we did when we didn't have everyone for the main session. The main campaign ended (Successfully, I might add), and the DMs intended to continue the Beta- what we called the secondary campaign Misaki and Aya were in.
Next session, we went to investigate a mansion on the outskirts of town in which someone research aberrations had lived, but they had gone missing. We encountered a monstrosity that ruined us; killed two party members (Including Misaki's brother, but she didn't know he was her brother until later), and only Misaki, Aya, and the Bard managed to escape alive. Last session ended with Aya wanting to guide the fallen brother's soul to the Painted Havens, (The realm she runs, and Misaki is trying to repair) but he decided not to since he didn't know of the relation either. Only then did she know, and we ended it on Misaki sobbing herself asleep.
We didn't have enough characters left to continue, so... yeah.
