The only time Marina has ever been on the Dannato was in rather dire and bloody circumstances (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3352994/). Gino wanted to change that, take her on a date where she can experience a bit of his world, the above water one (as opposite to that of the humans born in the underwater colonies and nations).
"Prego Marina dear," he spoke softly, "do not try to stand up. Your leg fins cannot hold your weight."
"Ish ookae, Geeno," the Mako girl replied, trying to hide her pain. "I can shtan an bee pweety laik dwy giwl. So you laik me moh." She could not help but feel jealous of the human girls strolling on the deck of the ship, the breeze every so often playing with their dresses. Their entourage of admirers and hopefuls followed them like eager dogs. Still, they gave Marina an angry look.
"Oh sweetest Marina. Stop comparing yourself with those 'dry' girls. You are so much prettier than them, both in appearance and heart. Please don't try to be like them; I just can't stand them. There is no way I could chose one of them instead of you." He paused, "I am not going to have you stand up and hurt your lovely fins for me. Hop up on my back; I will carry you."
"Buh dee oders..."
"I do not care about what they think. I am here with my girl and that is what matters. If I can't take you to dining room with me, we will eat outside, by ourselves, under the stars." Behind them the calm sea shimmers under the late afternoon sun. "This is our time, our evening. Let's make the best of it. Nothing else is important."
Far above the horizon, a Galaxy Co. reentry module scratched the sky with its trail.
I really love the effects
beru put in this drawing, from the reflections coming up from the still water to the eyes. Look at the guy's eyes: they look amazing (I am not going to mention she draws a lovely Mako shark girl. I would be stating the obvious)! I really like this drawing a lot.

Thanks! I had an idea of what I wanted but after
beru drew this truly lovely drawing, the idea really took shape. Like, the stuff she did in the background reminded me of water shimmering on the bay in the evening, and I just had to use that.
