The Templar's Rose
My latest obsession inbetween preps for FWA has been Dragon Age: Origins. I tend to multitask and play little bits of it whilst I do crafty projects and badges and suchlike. Like many games from Bioware, you can develop a romance with some of the other characters, and my noble rogue ended up hitting things off with a character named Alistair.
Alistair happens to be a near dead ringer for my husband, Uriel, were one to wind the clock back a decade. Plus he's a holy knight templar, which fits Uriel's own holy vocation. He's sarcastic and funny and yet a little innocent. All in all an adorable little fellow that I can't help but love.
The clincher is that if he likes you in return, one of the first things he does is give you a rose as a token of affection, saying how it reminds him of you. Uriel was one of the first men to ever give me roses, at one point stuffing an envelope full of petals with a small note that read simply, "Beauty deserves adoration". So after that I was all his.
So given all of that, I had to draw a picture of us together as we'd look in the game. (Unless you clad yourself in full plate, the female armor isn't terribly protective, typical fantasy game!) So here's Uriel nervously offering Gen a rose.
This is just the linework, and I may color it up if I can spare a moment. When I do, this will be moved to scraps.

No, his real name isn't Uriel. I'm the one with the weird RL name. Even though his RL name isn't a huge secret, he's a somewhat private person and prefers it if I refer to him as his old fan handle when I talk about him in public venues or in my webcomic, at least regarding things in furry fandom. He yoinked the name from the Apocrypha as Uriel is a lesser known angel, but also somewhat of a non nonsense badass whenever he's mentioned in scripture
Awwwwwwwwww Cuteness alert!! Cuteness Alert!!!
I always love the fantasy games that have women dressed up n leather bikinis with no arm, stomache or leg protection. I mean we all know orcs, ogres and trolls aim only at the sword you are carrying and not the exposed parts of skin. The clothing could not stop a sword much less a mace or hammer!
Can you tell which gender MAKES these games? heh.

Hm. Didn't you already draw a c'strip of how you'vre read Uriel's note (I'm working my way through your archives)? Well, whatever, as an old logic addict I can tell you that if female armour would be protective, nobody would play as woman - people usually don't want to see steel, but, uhm...you can imagine.
Personally, I prefer the sci-fi/FPS corner, but fantasy RPGs (computer or not) are always fun - remember the very first D&D - three brown books, that was it. But I'm getting off-topic, plus prohably reading this will keep you away from some important work, whether it be comics or playing Dragon Age.

The strip about the note was recent, the first time he ever did it though was about fifteen years ago. He still thinks I'm beautiful after all that time :)
Deep down I am an adventure gamer. The old Monkey Island games, or the Gabriel Knight and Tex Murphy series, plus Grim Fandango and such. If I play outside of that genre, I really need plot, and Dragon Age has it in spades :)

Really? I didn't know I got that far in your archives...
Well, I'm not the average FPS gamer, in fact I just use them if I don't have anything else. A bit of Zelda here, some Fire Emblem there, now and then a slice of NetHack and every blue moon a couple minutes of Final Fantasy - prohably the stealth shooter is just a phase...or I really, REALLY am a sniping psycho.

Here's the video of the rose scene (with the more silly and sarcastic options picked) It's just the most adorable thing... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgw2CTXbdU8
well of course he is, he'll be king, the game continues as if you made certain choices at the end but i think it may be different if you port over a file with different choices. idk what it will do if you try to bring over a file where you don't do the morrigan thing cuz the expansion needs that to happen for the new story to exist. do you have it on pc or xbox or ps3?
