I'm imagining a Glenn Beckish thing, where you encourage your audience to buy emeralds, then say you have nothing to do with the emerald industry, and then there's a commercial for emeralds.

No, he's trapped that way. Probably loses concious thought when it reaches his head too. It's not a beneficial spell, you're thinking of Stoneskin and the like.

Theoretically yes but the spell is pretty all encopassing. His body doesn't need oxygen while it's emeraldy so he doesn't suffocate.

I think I like this one because of the simple elegance of the crystal look. It's reduced the creature to a blocky representation of its former self, which is very nifty visually.
