True street running is getting rarer and for good reason..

I mean it's like an instant accident waiting to happen every few feet

Up in Bryan Texas they do have street running but it is a full mainline with ballast.

This line through Ft. Collins doesn't see many trains as do all true street running operations. It's just too dangerous and too full of idiots now to attempt to street run safely.

Lots of railroads are phasing this stuff out or running a very limited schedule of trains on them especially if they go through busy towns. It's a fun operation to watch on the ground but it is a nail biter for crews.

I RACED to get this train & trains go 5-10mph through there & all traffic lights blink red anyway

Not even so much as a simple barrier between traffic and a locomotive. Oh this could lead to some delicious situations...

well there is crossing lights & bells at most of the downtown intersections no gates tho If I lived at one of the corners I'd find my own crossing sign to put up It'd be a wig-wag hehe

Is this Oakland, CA? Cause I remember them having tracks that go through town...

Yep. There was only one set of crossing lights, the one you can see there. Couldn't miss the train coming, the cane bin wagons were never oiled and made a heck of a racket. One engine pull and one pushed on the rear.
