I think the element I like most is watching the "traces" of them left over in the final animal. We can make out clearly where things where, but still have to do some puzzle solving to fallow they got there which adds a level of consideration beyond what they became from how they became it.
The rendering here is stellar as always. Get a great sense of material tactileness from shiny, to furry and mat.
The anatomy shift is interesting as well, such as how the shoulders bulked up to become different stronger parts etc.
