I've started a large project. I don't think I realized how large it would be, but oh well.
Basically, it's a test to see how well an arbitrary image can be converted into a chainmail inlay pattern. I couldn't really come up with an image that I wanted for myself at the moment, so I decided to do Fender.
I have now finished 12.9% of the image. It's going to end up taking 7000 rings. It's not going to be able to get much bigger until the rings I ordered arrive, since I'm starting to run out of a couple colors.
I actually think it's going reasonably well. The only real problem I'm getting is that it's hard to get good lighting; the colors of the metal tend to seem different in bad lighting. Once I've got more done I'll be able to better evaluate whether I matched the colors well enough.

It's more centered around using fuse beads, but they have a TON of good ideas for doing things in a pixel-by-pixel way like this.
And your stuff is AWESOME, by the way. I've done a little scale mail myself, but nothing bigger than a bracer. Though I'm working on a tail. But anyhow, you're really good.

Thank you. I always love compliments like that.
The pixelgasm forum looks cool. I'll have to dig through it at some point. Though the interesting limitation in chainmail is really the fact that you only have so many colors, so I was trying to figure out ways to have colors visually blend together.
