I DID THIS MORE FOR FUN THAN FOR SERIOUS BUSINESS.
Mostly cuz a few people asked me to just do something "raw" so not much recording etc.
I did this for
meeya07 because they like Link Park and I figured if they liked it we could collab it sometime :)

I am sorry to hear you say you can't "sing anymore" ?o.o;; that must be hard if you enjoy singing :/ If I stopped singing ok I'd be devastated, same if my hands or my eyesight got worse I'd just not even know what to do anymore.

Oh trust me, my pentax is like 30 years old or something, it's heavy as heck and really bulky and "old looking" haha I dont remember the model off the top of my head. My dad bought it for me second hand from someone at work so I could learn with a "proper camera" XD I think it's a lovely old camera :D I used to love taking photographs quite seriously when I had a spinal injury so I had lots of time to sit and take photos and learn.

Sometimes they have interesting lyrics, they are quite similar a lot, or atleast when they started out, like Hybrid Theory mostly. It seemed very manufactured and "samey". Perhaps because they were being held down by producers and labels etc, I havent followed their very recent stuff so I can only speak about the old :)

Well, I have to confess that I've only listened to one or two songs by Linkin Park by my own initiative... And I have heard this song! (the original that is)
I do find that your cover here fits more with the feel the words give. I think it's perfect as it is! Anything more and it would loose the sorrowful quality (I have no idea why LP ~the records... no the band!~ added percussion, it ruined the effect of their music!)
I don't really know the song well enough, but you know exactly when to double your voice and add effects!
I really do love your voice, and your guitar playing is beautiful! I could never improvise over a chord sheet, that's for sure!

I really liked the idea making this acoustic and "sorrowful" as you said :) I've been meaning to do it for a few weeks and I am glad I finally did it. I was worried it wasn't polished enough but I think because I sorta improvised with it it made the song a lot more emotional. I lose a lot of emotional content when I do soooo many takes on a song that I lose enthusiasm.
I am happy you have said that I have a good sense of layering and when to do it. Sometimes I do overdo it though as has been pointed out in the past. This is experimenting with the "less is more" philosophy XD And I really tried to keep the reverb down a lot but also I really wanted to make a point of it too to add to the mood.

And for that I must thank you! I think improvisation sometimes leads to the best results. I see what you mean on re-doing a song a million times, I had that problem a lot more back then than now, fortunately! (What I do is write a canon or two and then go back into writing the real music).

The less is more philosophy, it's an excellent one (I've been implementing it too, writing for two wind instruments that together can't play more than two notes, you get some pretty interesting results!), though there are a few examples where 'too much' sounds really good, 'Spem In Alium' by Tallis is a wonderful piece to showcase that, it's got forty melodies playing at the same time (and it sounds beautiful), but even he started by writing really 'minimalist' pieces.

Our first thought was 'Wow'. The guitar is so amazing and then your vocals to it. This is one of my faves from LP and you did a splendid cover in our opinion. Got goosebumps and at 1:55 with the backing vocals ... moved me to tears, such a beautiful voice. Even better than original. If we would make an accoustic album for ourselves, this WOULD be definitely on it, for sure.

I am really happy you like it :D It was a lovely song to cover and even though I decided to do one massive long recording of the guitar and the vocals on the same track it didn't turn out so badly. I prefer doing "live" stuff like that cuz it flows naturally, but I still get nervous about the criticism I might receive for doing it that way x_x!
I can't believe you said it's better than the original! The biggest compliment I could receive :D I am very honoured. I am glad people who are LP fans don't mind my acoustic covers. I am always afraid I will get a bunch of angry nu-metallers chasing me with electric guitars or something XD!! People can get so odd about covering their favourite bands differently.
I also personally liked the double vocals at the last chorus and the way it all builds too. I think it's effective in an acoustic cover. I missed out the last segment but I am glad I did that.
Like I said, if you happen to record backings that need vocals I can take a shot... I am unsure if my vocals would go with anything heavier instrument wise but eh... we live and learn hm?

I wrote you a nice comment on this yesterday, but I guess it didn't post for some reason. Anyway, I really did enjoy listening to this cover you did. The layered vocals and subtle echo affect really add to the emotional aspect that I think even the original version didn't hit as well as you. Also, when you hit the higher notes about 50 seconds in "now if you're asking me I want you to know" is just beautiful to listen to. I mean, your whole vocal assembly comes out Wonderous with you soft and subtle varience in the vocals themselves. This was a very bright spot on my day. Thank as always for sharing you amazing tallent with us.

You don't have to make yourself any clearer than "pure acoustic variant" :P I think I could have figured out what you mean with the stuff in brackets. Not sure if you intended to, but you came across a little rude there.

I find its better to be redundant than misunderstood, rudeness wasn't my intent but text is a poor conduit for such nuances with out a hefty use of emoticons which I wasn't thinking about at the time.
I will say though on a side note, echo effects/reverb are excessively used by many FA vocalists, which is odd as most sound better with out them.

I haven't stumbled on many singing submissions with reverb yet so I can't comment on that statement. Mostly I've found the ones that haven't added any effects at all and just use something like sound recorder.
Previously I've re-uploaded versions of a song with less reverb after people said about it so I don't ignore the comments. I can't hear tons of reverb myself on my headphones and no one else had pointed it out yet for whatever reason so I figured it was fine. I'm also fond of reverb cuz a lot of music I listen to has vast amounts of it. I guess it is also a confidence issue too, so people have put it to me.

The quality is good, though I think it suffers a bit because of the lyrics, or perhaps the melody. Not as suited to the calmer tone or the acoustic guitar as many of your other songs perhaps. *shrugs*

Thank you, I liked how I did it as a sort of on the spot thing, but I think I will reduce the reverb if I remember to :3 Thank you. I think it's a nice song too, I don't mind Linkin Park and used to listen to Hybrid Theory a lot when I was going to college on the train every day so I know all their songs from that time XD

Yeah I despair at haters of any form. Why can't people jsut get on with their own business without being crap to other people? Bah. Surely no matter what style someone sings/covers a song in, it's still a tribute to the original musicians and that's a positive thing? I love hearing different remixes and covers myself of all my favourite songs, whether I like it or not is a different story, and if I don't like something I don't say anything. What's the point?

Oh, funny story... I really liked Meteora, and then when they released Minutes to Midnight, I WAS one of those people that complained that they changed too much... but I eventually began to like the new stuff too. I pretty much forced myself to, because I knew I was a real LP fan. I can't hate someone just because they actually decided to mature and be a little different. I mean, I've matured since then too, so all the lyrics and vibe of the music kinda still describe me... they always take the words and feelings right out of me. But yeah, knowing that I like to sing too, and how I practice every LP song I can (or really, that I like a lot), I gave the new stuff a chance... finding that I might even like the new stuff MORE because it's got a lot more emotion put in it, and it's loads easier to sing along with. Plus they have a lot of prettier songs now... touching music like "Not Alone". I just can't even describe how amazing they are. They've been my go-to band since I was only 9, and I still love them. :)

I can't even find the album myself, I was sure someone gave it to me x_x I had it on CD... hmm maybe I am going mad XD! I love Leave out All the Rest but I can't say I even know the rest of the album. I used to love Hybrid Theory as a youngster (back when it was cool, yo lol X3) but I also enjoyed Meteora too. It's funny cuz I like all kinds of music and bands, and LP isn't a genre I listen to much or anything, but there's something about the actual sound they have that attracts me more than anything else. I love the industrial/heavy mix they go with, some of the sounds on Hybrid Theory were great.
Everyone matures that way, I used to tell people their music taste sucked which was pretty immature lol Now I've grown up I've really begun to appreciate that being into certain types of music doesnt make you look stupid. I think when I was in high school I was just too desperate to fit in that I became quite blinkered in my perceptions of things.
At least now we can appreciate lots of things and give new things a try, I am glad you stuck by one of your fave bands. I really love Keane (totally different I know!) and they changed their sound this year and at first I was like "uh wut is this ;o; where did my Keane go!?" but after a few listens to their new stuff I got used to it and I love it now too :3!
