Personally, I love the way it looks right now. That marble-ish background matches her fur pattern really well, and since the only outstanding presence of colour in the picture is the hair and the eyes it does bring the attention upwards, towards the character's face, valuing the whole ensemble. I'd personally leave it as it is, looks great like this ^^

Oh yeah, that's some pretty good practice. I've been doing that lately as well. That's how I found out I actually enjoy drawing backgrounds XD

Ooooh, I love how you do backs. The physiology is really realistic! Particularly on the spine and the shoulder blades. Excellent pose, and it's great how you made it work perfectly even with that leg type, the technical name for which eludes me...

The lighting really brings it out, and highlights the body form perfectly.

Hm and I don't think it needs a background. I really like the color this paper has. It has such a nice texture and it makes the grey fur stad out. It's perfect the way it is! =)

Have you considered digitally removing the empty space then superimposing it onto a background drawn on another sheet of paper?
