this is some brilliant use of texture/screentone. I'm going to take a guess that for the screen tones over the red, you did the difference clouds to bitmap trick?

Difference clouds? Fshaw! What do you take me for, someone who uses photoshop filters?

haha, no yeah photoshop filters are terrible.. but if you don't have many samples of screen-tones, you can do a little trick where you make a large canvas, fill it with some sort of difference cloud, then convert the image mode to bitmap and use the screen settings you like, with the frequency/shape that you like, and you can get some pretty pleasing imitations of real screen-tones to use as textures.

Oh no... I used the color halftone filter in a new document and then yoinked one of the color channels out of that. I didn't realize there was a setting in "convert to bitmap" that would create a halftone pattern. I aught to remember that. Thanks!

if you go to a document's mode setting, it'll show bitmap. You can't convert something to a bitmap until it's grayscale. It'll ask you about the resolution and the method, and you can select halftone screen from there. Works pretty well.

Yah I just tried it... converted a pic into CMYK and passed each channel through a bitmap conversion. Pasted it back together, BOOM. Print effect. ^^
