If you want one of my more embarrassing traits, I'm dreadful when it comes to approaching celebrities or individuals I admire. Stick me one-on-one with one of my heroes and I'll be starstruck. Regardless of who they are or how approachable they might be. I still have it now and I definitely had it when I was small too.
I'd been raised on a lot of TV and video games, and naturally I had my favourite shows that I'd happily bounce with excitement at whenever they came on as well as characters I'd animatedly cheer for whenever they entered the scene. So imagine how my eyes widened and equally plastered themselves with trepidation the moment I found out I'd have a chance to meet some of my favourites at a local show soon.
As is almost a theme with me, I’d once again been told not to expect these people to be exactly as I'd seen them on the TV. They were just actors playing a character after all. They were, you know... Real people. Despite that however, that bit of guidance seemed to contradict what I was saw when the time eventually came somehow…
From my nervous eyes standing a few people back in the queue I'd been standing in, these characters getting closer and closer with each step sure looked real to me, and that in a way was scary. I was just some child who longed to go on daring escapades and be just like them. What time would these real heroes have for a small fry like me?
Eventually, my turn came and… Yeah. What I was told was definitely true to an extent. Maybe they weren’t exactly like I’d seen them or come to know them before this moment. They dressed differently and spoke differently to how I was used to, but you know what?
After seeing their warm smiles as I stepped up to them? The small chuckle they gave when they saw my face light up?
That somehow made them even better than I could have hoped for.
They say never meet your heroes. In some cases, yeah sure I can agree with that. But when you're a child? That kind of magic is hard to put to bed even afterwards.
I've had many heroes as a child, and I was lucky enough to meet some of them, but for the sake of this piece, Sly and Carmelita from the Sly Cooper series fit that bill nicely. Seen here meeting one particular fan in a little meet & Greet, and to pose for some photos.
Thanks again

Yeah I have frequently wondered where folks like Sly and Carmelita would end up fitting if they were part of a wider furry universe. Just imagine the intense levels of protection and paparazzi some of the Disney faces must get... I wonder just who would make up the population of furry Hollywood..?
