In the interest of building skills and filling my gallery, I decided to work on a series of character concept art pieces. I have a list of potential species, decide on some career or activity that seems appropriate or interesting for the particular species, and add a few other features to help make the final design more interesting. These pictures are not intended to be of recurring characters in future art pieces, but some may if I like them enough.

When thinking of ideas for what to do with a bat, I went through several 'appropriate' jobs for someone who likes the dark and hears well (e.g. musician at nightclub). Unsatisfied with the ideas, I decided it would be fun to think of inappropriate jobs and quickly liked the idea of a bat lifeguard. The idea of someone who hates bright lights and is mostly blind seemed like a fun starting point for a lifeguard.
