I've mainly been using as a wood storage area and that pot in the middle with a roaster on top is basically what I am using as a sort of makeshift charcoal kiln. The wood I am turning into charcoal is on the top in the roaster, while the wood I am using to heat the soon-to-be charcoal material up is just a bunch of softer hard woods, such as Sassafras. I also use a lot of twigs and branches that are no thicker than 1.5 inches (aprox) as fuel for it.
It takes about 2-5 hours total to actually convert the wood into charcoal, but eh.
I should be using a charcoal mound to make the charcoal, but I'd rather not have a huge mound of burning wood that is vomiting out a tonne of gasses in the middle of the friggen woods.

Looking a lot better now, wood bark usually goes on the first layer as a sort of patchwork, to keep the rain flowing down and off the wood, and then pine boughs and leaves and grasses to soak up that rain. But, either way can work very well. I would advise to maintain your fire a fair ways away from your fuel source and any possible tinder, and to make precautions and add elements to your building that would keep the fire in its container.
Seems good so far, yet I would recommend actually making somewhere to sleep, otherwise its not really a shelter, is it? I would advise you to make a raised cot or bed if you could, it seems like you could segment your shelter in two at the middle, for storage and a sleeping/resting place.
Either way, very nice to see your progress again, keep up the good work!
