Finally getting the pictures of these posted, even though most of them have long since been recieved by their owners. XP
I'm sure FA is going to shrink this horribly, hopefully you guys can still get an idea of what these things look like finished. I ended up making the beaded part a little small for wearing, because I think it would be safer for these to just be hung as a display somewhere. Too much movement may cause the jewels to get bumped off.
I also had to bring the price on these up to $35, because I found shipping them was a bit more expensive than I originally estimated. Plus, bead costs can add up fast.
Anyway, here they are, if you'd like a faerie badge, be sure to grab a commission from me next time I'm open. =) (For more info on them, see my journals.)

I know exactly how you feel on the bead costs, and simply trying to find the right ones for the project is a chore in itself. where did you go for yours? sometimes ill hit up a Michaels, they almost always have huge sales for beads, i go to them to buy my stone ones sometimes,
Hobby lobby usually isn't my best option but there are many times i get lucky. and when I'm in a pinch i have had some interesting finds at a local Wal-mart.

I mostly get my beads at Hobby Lobby right now, but I have been known to find some good ones at Walmart too. My problem is I always buy up a bunch and rack up a quite a bill.
I've heard there's a little bead shop near where I live, I haven't been there yet but I'd love to go see what I could plunder from it. hehe

I'm the same way, sometimes I'll go just to find once particular set i need to finish a project, like these silver ones for example and Boom i see a whole bunch of agates on sale along with some malachite and I'm like *O* <must have!
i will warn you on this, i went to this one bead store, and the stock was pretty low, they had some beautiful stone carvings and bead strings, but Damn were they expensive, i mean that one necklace i have with the jade and copper, those jade beads originally went for 30$, i was fortunate they were on sale for half off, but still. some of what they were selling, was way more pricey than it should have been, averaging from like 20 to 100 in bead strings. but i work with stone mainly so that explains the costs, even so, best tip i can give you, bargain or really question about the sales, and don't let them pressure you into buying something absolutely beautiful but you know you don't need, even if they try the ol Shave off a couple Hamilton's trick.
some bead shops are cool, this one i go to Dessert gems, they specialize all stone and glass beads, has like everything i need, and for a great price. but sometimes they too can come off as pretty friggen pricey, mainly because they sell high quality stone sets, and carved types, but so worth it due to sales stock.

There was a little store I went to in Phoenix all the time that was pretty decent, some of the stuff was a bit high-priced but the people that worked there were really nice. They had a discount card there sort of like Hot Topic, where after you've spent a certain amount of money, you get some kind of discount or free deal. I really miss that store, but I did spend a lot more than I probably should have in there. lol
My achilles heal is swarovski crystal beads. Pretty much everywhere I've seen them, they're always a bit expensive, even for only a small amount of beads. But I love them!
