playble stheno concept art (ability 1 + passive)
so I was going to name this something funny like "war-equine" or something to kind of reference how heavily I derived these ideas from warframe. but meh, doesn't roll off the tongue the same way
this one is called "rad-blast". while it can be tossed like an explosive plasma through the air and explode (even though that's not depicted) the best use is to either aim downwards and slam his fists into the ground for a radial shockwave, or even better, slamming from a high elevation and creating a long reaching directional shockwave depicted in the 3rd panel. every creature damaged by this has a portion of it's life force (or power source for robotics/cyborgs) corrupted and sent to stheno.
the corruption stacks stheno gains from this ability can be seen in the rads/"toxic masculinity" meter at the bottom. his size and number of attatchments will adjust depending on how much he's drained. upon fatal damage, the passive half-life kicks in draining half the stacks and adjusting his size accordingly, but restoring 50% life and granting a temporary barrier to damage. A massive nova of corruption is also sent out, possibly enough to mitigate a large part of the stack loss
BTW the goons he's blowing up are like a weird fusion of corpus and the stormking's units thanks to
ma-adopt for working on these concepts for me

haha yeah I even put "bootleg nidus" in the tags XD
main difference being is it matters where you aim as far as the ability 1; Nidus can embarrass himself if he accidentally throws larva too far off the ground and can't hit them but stheno can throw fireballs too and can get stacks from far away before your teamates steal all the kills. stheno looses a lot more stacks on "death" but explodes in a wave of corruption that will give some of the stacks back also.

Curious name you picked. Stheno is one of the Gorgons.

yeah that was pure co-incidence (it does make me want to do one using a gorgon of that name where the "turns you to stone" is more figurative and their stare turns people into chizled super buff mutants). stheno is short for "sthenolagnia" a psychological disorder where one is obsessed with strength to kind of fit the naming pattern set by other draconequi like "discord" for example.
Looks like theres another term for it as well.

cratolagnia

looking into that it seems there is a lot of overlap there. Doing some reading I think the crato variant is more about showing feats of strength vs just the appearance of strength if that makes any sense? I mean that is a really fine distinction, I could see a fracture point being maybe an overweight power-lifter type charicter (ie. where sthenolagnia types might not like the lack of aesthetic but cratolagnia types would?) but other than that they probably overlap completely in a venn diagram lol.
Yes, I think you are right

Kratos comes from the divine personification of strenght. Kratos had a sibling named Bia, whom means force.

Haha it’s my personal OC, seeing as I don’t identify as female the chances of them going that way is astronomically low. Also I hope you don’t talk to other artists like that, I have a good sense of humor about comments like that, but most other artists are notoriously thin skinned and might have chewed you out or blocked you on the spot
definitely more OP offensively, though I don't think the way I designed his "half-life" passive is as forgiving as "undying" if you know what you're doing as nidus. I'd say the main thing would be stheno's ult is just WAY better for DPS, ravenous just kind of builds stacks and is a nice distraction for enemy fire, but isn't a game changer to the point where teammates go out of the way to stand on his infested creep and want to shoot from there
