Little known IBSFA fact: Lightning dragons generate their electricity through the use of their powerful stomach acids. Unlike acid dragons, lightning dragons do not have acid resistance outside of their digestive system. Normally this would not be an issue, however lightning dragons can suffer from acid reflux. When that happens, they will not have a good day.
I am a lightning dragon and I'm out of my regular reflux meds. I feel like I'm a big sack of acid. I am not having a good time.

Gaviscon works wonders for short term relief although I still have to be careful with what I eat and drink, and I have to sleep upright if I don't have my regular medicine. The actual meds my doctor prescribed me for is Omeprazole which is perfect for me - no side effects and keeps my reflux in check.
I 100% sympathize D: Fuck, 200%
until I discovered Omeprazole (and later Pantoprazole) I thought life was nothing but misery. It got so bad, that for almost 20 years, I couldn't swallow without being VERY careful, or food would get stuck in my throat... Rice was the worst, but other things too. At least five times a week I'd have to sit over the toilet, heaving and heaving until I coughed the food up. It never stuck in a dangerous position, but occasionally I wouldn't realize it, swallow something else, and it just simply wouldn't go down. Have a throat full of milk or food or water... and run with tearfilled eyes to the bathroom.
If I go without my medication for more than 2 days, I start to get food stuck in the throat again... and of course there's the waking up with burning acid filling my lungs x.X

I had reflux for a while before I got to see a doctor about it and was prescribed medicine for it. When I've got the medicine I forget how bad it gets when it runs unchecked. Sleeping lying down is impossible - the only way is to sleep sitting upright. In the time before I got medicine to control it I got very used to sleeping upright.
I had a lot of trouble swallowing food and drink for a long time and a few years down the line I had an x-ray done on my chest and it was discovered I had a benign tumour wrapped around my esophagus. It's been removed now and although I still have some trouble swallowing and I still got my reflux, it's a lot better than it was before.
