An elderly woman comes back to a place she found as a child, and doesn't find the pot of gold but something far more valuable.

In my hiking travels, I don't hike just in normal public areas, but instead I venture into the 'inbetweens.' Areas of undeveloped land, gone feral. Wooded and dense, streambeds and the like.
If you do a google satellite view of Covington KY, you'll see great green patches. Those are the areas I went into while living there. Some areas hasn't been touched in centuries judging by what I found. In one secret streambed I also hike, I felt the numinous effect in 2014. To this day I cannot explain what happen but it was an intense feeling of like I wasn't alone.

Since then, I've taken my spiritual grandmother's old stories of the Yunwi Tsunsdi' (yun-wee joon-stee) a lot more seriously, and due to that, this little story has been cooking in my mind for several years.

Mind you overall its not as bad as i made it sound.. Im probably 750 feet from the centerline of interstate 5 big 4 lane freeway. So this corridor has been ravaged more than a lot of oregon. Im in a deep valley right between the coast range and the cascade range. (Look up 7 feathers bingo casino to get a full idea of what its like here) we have some stupendous mountains out here.
A very good and magical story, definitely that Appalachia fairytale and the fairytale we look for.
"It's been 65 years, yet still here!" versus "Where is it?" counters itself. Pick one and stick with it. Where is it serves as a stronger beginning sucking us into Diana's quest.

Frustration started to rear it's terrible head, "It's got to be here, yet it has been 65 years." As she was ready to give up
Switch dialogue with description really would make it pop.
"It's got to be here, yet it has been 65 years, she moaned, frustration rearing its terrible head. She couldn't give up, not now. A light...
So we perceive sound happening before action. Frustration started to rear its terrible head by itself is dysnced from character and is told, by bringing it closer to character through action it can be shown.
"As she was ready to give up is both telling and a temporal transition, when normal action serves as more powerful transitions. Think on Action and reaction.
Still, a lot better.
