I've pondered about how to call animal like automatons before. Since the word "android" consist of "andr-", which stands for "man" and "-oid", which stands for "-like". There's also "Gynoid", which exclusively stands for "woman-like robot". "Animal" comes from "animalia", which stands for everything that breathes. And I though maybe "Animaloid", but that would include humans as well... maybe "Beastoid", tho that would hint to a rather savage, primal machine, which is less anthropomorphic... maybe "anthroid"?
