“I called for the party to run - but the healer protested. We threatened to leave him behind, until he relented. As we made our escape, we discovered to our horror the paladin had the only map before he - before fell. At the first juncture we argued whether to go left or right.

Some unearthly howl erupted behind us, and moments later, our paladin had returned, followed by the malign herd. He was no longer our friend, he was one of them now. We fought valiantly, but the healer fell, and we ran - I never looked back.

I am lost in the labyrinth and alone. I'm recording this in the hopes I can keep someone else from making the mistakes we made in coming here to this place. There is no treasure here.

I don't know what happened to the rest of our party, but they can only be dead or changed now.

It's only a matter of time now before they catch me.

Even now I think I hear the echoes of hooves, or the monsters heavy breathing - I’ll have to move soon before… <the chronicle is torn here>
