Me shooting a Glock 21 pistol at H&H Gun Range here in Oklahoma City for my 30th birthday. Yes, I really did engage a paper target at 30 yards with a .45 ACP handgun. I fired both that pistol and an AR-15 rifle.

Yep, that's the same hat, alright. The First Sergeant at the recruiting station got it for me straight from Iraq. Full mil-spec save for no rank insignia on the front. This was my first time shooting a semi-auto handgun; the only pistol I had fired before was a Ruger Speed Six in .357 Magnum with a 2" barrel. Ended up getting a mark between my thumb & trigger finger and nearly lost control of the weapon because I was using an incorrect grip at the time, but I know better now as you can see here. As for the AR-15, this was actually my second time using one; my dad used to have one as well. His was exactly like the M16A2 except the bayonet lug was deleted and it also had the safe/semi-only trigger group. He also had a Leupold scope mounted on the carry handle. I really loved that gun, and got to where I could hit within an inch of a dead-center 10 at 100 yards on my cold shot. The AR I fired for my birthday was more of a carbine configuration with a 16" barrel, flat-top upper reciever, ACOG scope, no iron sights (had a quad-rail gas block with no front sights on it), and a RIS handguard. I actually have a couple of videos of me firing both the Glock and the AR-15 on Youtube. My sister fired both guns as well, and did pretty good despite never having fired a weapon in her life, though she did have a misfire with the Glock; seems the firing pin didn't strike the primer so it didn't discharge. I cleared the round and found a small, shallow denting on the back of the casing, but the primer had not been struck. After we cleared that misfire, the Glock seemed to work perfectly afterwards.
