I'm currently listening to ABC evening news blather about how half the US is locked down. If that's the case, why, at 6:25 PM EST are approximately 1500 commercial aircraft in the skies? Does UPS and FedEx have that much freight moving right now? About the same number where in the air about noon today also. Those aircraft don't fly empty. Go figure.

Ah, but there's only five people and ten crew per flight - so they need a lot more of them up!
And don't forget people are ordering TP from Amazon!
The biggest/saddest joke of this whole thing is that it was being spread for months before there was any notice of it (thank you China for trying to pretend it wasn't there ...)
And for many this will seem/be just another common cold - which is still around, not that that gets pointed out. So since testing can't cover everyone we don't know how bad it really is. The quarantine-in-place is a stop-gap in the (false)hopes of slowing the spread down to something the hospitals can handle.
They say those old, overweight, low immunity and/or breathing problems/issues are at higher risk. It's almost like Mother Nature's saying, "Oh, how cute, your medical know-how lets you save those that would have died or never been born just a few decades ago. Let's re-level that playing field shall we?"
This too will pass, but it will be a changed world in its wake.

Yeah, hear that, but looking at their ID's, they were mostly airlines. Anyway, we're doing fine. I'm back in the saddle again on Monday after three weeks of twiddling my thumbs but catching up on stuff at home. The shop shut down one of their lines three weeks ago to upgrade the equipment (good timing on their part) but it's back on line now so I'll be off and running a couple days a week again. Shelby's "boss" anticipated a lot the the crap that's come down and alternated their hours so they don't cross paths in the office, which is working out fine. She comes home for lunch which I "prepare" or we get take-out to eat either at home or in her office. No Sunday Mass's for the public and no choir or choir practice obviously. The Philharmonic has canceled performances through the middle of April. My board meetings have been cancelled,
But, on the plus side, the neighborhood is alive with folks out walking with their kids and dogs in spite of the shitty weather. We've seen and chatted with more of them in the last week than we have in the last year. Gotta go. My bourbon glass is empty and I think I'll go sit in front of the garage and listen to some symphonic music.
