And here we go again with the freakin' specieist agenda, FA! There's more to the ocean than aquatic mammals! D< (No offense to any of you cetaceans, sirenians, otters, and pinnipeds.) Srsly, I'll bet there are Sharks and other Fish in this fandom who are at a loss for their species when submitting art.
But, back to business.
A late En Memoriam to a beautiful fish we owned.
Meet Blutane, bi-colored Royal Blue/Red crowntail betta. The IRL version of this handsome fish sadly didn't get a chance to have a photo taken before departing a few months after we first got him. So, this speedpaint was from memory and glancing at other Royal Blues and Reds.
Quite a bit of creative liberty taken here, aside from the anthropomorphization. He's very much 'WTF?' at being a merfish. xD
Like I said, this was a speedpaint. 4-ish hours start to finish, excluding the time taken to get dinner and watch two episodes of Kuroshitsuji. Blutane was this gorgeous iridescent betta, and I think I did him some justice with my attempts at iridescence.

Simply amazing, I really, really like this piece/character, but perhaps even more because this fine fellow had the exact colors my betta did back when I was younger, or at least close enough to that coloration to bring back a few childish memories. Even so, it's absolutely splendid and unique to boot, so hats off to you.
Really? ^v^ Royal Blue/Red bicolors are gorgeous. And I have this liking for the crowntail variety, which he was. Kinda want another betta, but I dunno if the giant Danios and the Serpae Tetras would get along with him if we got another one.
And thankie much! :> Iridescence is so fun, but so tedious sometimes.
