Hey noodle what did you do today?
Well I dreamt that I was hanging out with my engineering frand and we were walking to his car, which is a Tesla. There was a black woman getting in her car right beside us, but she turned and saw my frand and accused him of making some racist gesture, when he was simply dancing to the music that was in the dream. I tried explaining to the woman that he was dancing, but her kids came up...They were all really level headed about it and tried to calm her down, and one of them was HUGE! Like he towered over me and was built like a wall. I gave him a hug because he was very frandly and asked how tall he was. He said he didn't know so we went inside the convenience store we were at and I pulled out a tape measure and we found out he was 7'6"!
But then the lights went out and they disappeared, and when I went outside I saw that everything had become the Wild West. I tried getting to a safe town about 5 miles away, but there was all sorts of bandits shooting each other!
The next dream I had I went to Bentonville, Arkansas for a furry convention on a playground that had mostly been abandoned and collapsed. Mum and dad were nearby and said they didn't understand any of it. I think I was kinda embarrassed about the whole thing, 'cause that's sorta how I was raised I guess.
I woke up at around 12:30 and got bundled up and headed out. Mum wasn't upstairs when I went up there, but the TV had been paused for a little over 17 minutes, so I assumed she went walking, though I didn't see her as I left. I headed north to Draffenville for some Arby's, and I got my usual sliders (2 chicken and 2 buffalo chicken with a large conke). While waiting for my food I was telegraming a frand about the Corona Virus...That's getting freaky!
But I got my food and stopped thinking about it. I ate it en route to LBL, opting to go north over the dam since I wanted to get food. It was a really nice day and I enjoyed driving down the Trace toward Turkey Bay, but when I got there I found that the place was closed due to over-saturated soil! Hecc!
But that wasn't really a problem, since there were loads of nice geos everywhere, so I headed up the Barkley Coast and made some finds. The first one was right near the bridge, and was called 'Gateway to LBL'. I found it in a hollowed out stump with a flat piece of wood on top. This was a good find for me since one of my first full geocaching days (back in 2009!) I had attempted this cache's predecessor, only to come up skunked. This day was redemption!
The next cache was just a bit north and called 'Trapped like a rat', and even had a rat emoji in the title. The cache said it was at an old home that had moved when LBL transferred to the federal government, and I could still see a few rock structures around. Indeed, there was a pile of rocks quite obviously placed on a piece of wood, and I figured the wood was the top of a box containing the geocache. I took off all the stones, but then found that the 'box' had an open backside, and inside was a giant plastic rat attached to a mouse trap. Around his neck? The cache! As I signed the log Ian called, and I spent many of the next caches chatting with him.
The next cache was a micro called 'Cable Guy' located at the base of a sign that said 'buried cable', and it was a pretty easy find...Just off the road on a well-kept gravel road, and the container was a solid metal and very easy to open one...Very nice!
The next pair of caches were a short walk off the main road. There was a gravel path, but I didn't wanna chance it and felt best parking, though while walking to the first cache, I saw a white van parked nearby (at a cemetery), so I passed it by to head to the farthest cache. This one was called 'I WANTS ME GOLD!!!!!!!' and was found by pulling a rope from the inside of a hollowed out tree. The container was on the other end, and as per the cache's instructions, I put on the leprechaun hat within and took a photo. Snazzy!
From there I headed back to the cache I skipped, chatting with Ian about how I really haven't gone more conservative on many issues, but have instead been abandoned by an ever-radicalizing left-wing. Granted, some issues I've become more conservative on, but those are far fewer than the ones I've remained consistent on. As we were chatting about healthcare I found the cache I'd skipped. It was called 'Evergreen', and was a small tube with pinecone pieces glued around it. Very cute! While in the area I heard the van was not only parked, but was actually running, but I didn't see anyone and no one came out to bother me.
The next cache required me to park off the 'main' road (it wasn't very busy!) and was a smol mailbox attached to a tree. It was very well kept and was even a TB Hotel! I only ever did travel bugs during the Planet thing, and though I don't really do it much, I came to appreciate it during that event! Ian said he had to get milk while I was leaving that cache but said he'd call me back, so I bid him a temporary adieu and headed onward.
He called shortly after but the signal cut out while I was in a valley, tho he called back and it was fine. I said that Kentucky is installing new dead spots around the area. I searched around for a cache called 'Long Forgotten' at an old homestead area, but other than some old barbed wire fence, I didn't see anything...Not even the cache! We did talk about farming animals tho.
The next cache was called 'I Am Groot', and was a series of smol containers inside a hollowed out tree. A toy of the titular character guarded these, and while signing the log Ian said he'd better go. I said goodbye, hung up, and headed on to the next adventure. I did accidentally turn South instead of North, but corrected and headed to the next trail.
This was a less well-kept gravel road, and though I was able to get past a fairly large puddle on a gravel section, I stopped just shy of a large muddy puddle. The cache was about a mile away and took me over some dramatic hills (dramatic for LBL, anyway...Gains of maybe 100 to 200 feet). I stopped at the top of one of the hills and took a photo of a gravestone. It was one of the only in the Wallace Cemetery, and simply said “Children”, followed by a list of names and years. The other stone was of a couple who died in their 40s and 50s. The Wallace family seemed to have lived a very hard life!
I continued on the path toward the cache, eventually finding 'The Buchanan Place' in a log on a steep hill facing the lake. I signed, then with the Sun dipping low in the distance, headed back to the car. It felt like a quicker journey back, since I didn't need to keep looking at my GPS in order to make sense of the random paths and roads that should have existed and did not, and vice versa.
I drove back south and out of LBL, but then things got weird. As I crossed the Egnar's Ferry Bridge I saw lights on near the turn-off into Aurora. When I got there I tried turning, but a firetruck had blocked off the road and emergency personnel waved me onward. I didn't wanna hafta drive halfway to Murray to get home, but fortunately I was able to use my GPS to find a smol backroad that took me where I needed to go. It was a country road with quaint houses and the road lacked a dividing line, but took me where I needed to go...
...But when I pulled out I saw more road blocks...It seemed as if a large portion of the town had been cordoned off. I asked one of the emergency workers what was happening, but he said they don't tell him anything. Yikes!
I got home and saw Cindy and Dawn were there, and I told them about Aurora. They were a bit concerned about it, but we figured we'd learn about it in due time. I headed downstairs and used the bathroom and edited my story. Mum texted me plans for Saturday (She wanted me to be DD) and also sent me a news article about the closure...Apparently it was a multi-agency response to a medical issue. Yikes! Is that Corona already in the area?
I grabbed a shower which helped warm my cold feet, then I spent some time goobing off online. I went upstairs around 10 to make a bowl of chili, and I saw dad was lying in bed with mum. I ate my chili then headed back downstairs, where I spent a lot of time typing and lazing and playing KoL and watching more Project Ozone 2. I stayed up until past 5 because I just kept putting off my noodle entry for the day and eventually did it super late.
I hope everyone has a Closure of Aurora day! <333
