I've been struggling with the lion's mane idea for my snowliopard fursona and having trouble finding a way of drawing it that looks good.
I looked at a bunch of photos of real lions and decided that their manes are too frizzy for my liking, but the style used in The Lion King is very appealing to me.

Yeah, for a general design, a grey would go better, snowleopards are mostly greyscale anyway, but yeah, my hair is brown, so my fursona's hair is brown.
I have a bit of trouble with the shade of brown though since my tablet PC seems to display it a bit differently than my desktop PC does. (I do my art on the tablet PC, but upload and browse on the desktop PC)
