Wulkin are a race of wolf-like humanoids that dwell in the wilderness, favouring forests, green hills, plains and highlands.
According to legend, in an ancient time when men and animals still shared a common language, some wolves accepted a covenant with humans, swearing on their moon goddes to live in harmony and not hunt each other. But when an age-long winter came, many wolves were driven by hunger to betray that covenant, and hunted on humans once more. And so they were cursed, either by the gods of men or by the moon they perjured on, and taken away from the cycles of nature and made into half men. According to this legend, those wolves became the wulkin; today's dogs are descendants of those who observed
the covenant instead, and those who never swore remained feral wolves to this day.
The legend of the curse would certainly explain one trait that Wulkin don't share with wolves, which is an almost vicious tendency towards aggression and fits of blind, bloodlusted rage. The soul of a Wulkin is strongly conflicted between animalistic and antropic tendencies; most of their communities live as semi-nomadic packs that cycle between simple semipermanent settlements within a larger territory. Others have permanent villages made of earth and stone, where they may even build forges and farm animals.
