The Fey belong to a mysterious kin that crosses the line between mortals and natural spirits, and are therefore strongly bound to the wilderness, particularly to forests and rivers. In this large faery family, the Fey are the least spiritual and most material race, living lives not unlike those of mundane mortals; still, they share a special bond to the forces of nature and primordial magic, and have a strong empathy towards animals.
Fey don't seem keen on establishing their own settlements and don't build cities or villages; they usually live either in the hidden courts of more powerful fairy lords, or led carefree existances in the wilderness, living off the fruits of the land. Occasionally they even join communities of other races, living among humans, elves or halflings.
Fey have slender and light bodies. Their ears are long and pointed, their hair either wild as untamed brambles, or smooth and flowing like the waters of a river. Their skin varies in hues from leaf green to watery teal or wheat yellow; upon it, spiraling markings entwine, developing spontaneously as the individual grows and ages in twisted, organic design that resemble the symbols dear to the fairy courts.
The Fey are renowned for their vivacity and whimsicality, for their lackluster disposition for logical thought, foresight or responsabilities, their poor memory and their general disregard for consequences, including their own mortality.
Fey grow quickly into adult age, despite hardly ever being mature by human standards, and don't seem to age for most of their long lives. They are known to live easily up to two hundred years, and potentially much more; it must also be noted though that the careless lives of the Fey aren't safe from the perils of the wilderness, and their reckless and lightheaded disposition makes them even more subject to untimely deaths from natural hazards or predators.
